Eldar. The Númenóreans are granted a longer life span than other men but are forbidden

Elros Tar-Minyatur begins his rule as the first King of Númenor, lasting for 410 years,
b. 58 yrs before the Second Age began, d. 442. The

Ancalimë calls herself Emerwen Aranel. They fall in love but when Ancalimë finds out
Hallacars true identity, she becomes angry because of his deceit. |

Marriage of Aldarion and Erendis.
There is much joy and feasting in Númenor for the long-awaited wedding. Even the Eldar
from the West grace their wedding, bringing them gifts. To Aldarion they give a sapling
tree with snow-white bark and to Erendis they give a pair of grey birds with golden beaks
and feet which sang to one another. The joy lasts only a few years, however, for Aldarion
soon turns his love again to the sea. |

Birth of Tar-Ancalimë, daughter
(only child) of Tar-Aldarion. She grows up to be the most beautiful maiden in Elros
line save Ar-Zimraphel. Her mother, Erendis, raises her alone in a house in Emerië with
only female servants. Erendis feeds her with her
own bitterness towards men. |

Aldarion returns from a long
voyage to Middle-Earth. Erendis welcomes him coldly and Ancalimë does not recognize him.
Aldarions dispute with his wife regarding his voyages finally breaks their love for
one another. He proclaims that he no longer has a wife, only an heir. Aldarion and Erendis
separate.
Tar-Meneldur receives a letter from Gil-galad asking for aid against the growing darkness
in Middle-Earth. Not wanting to make a choice, he decides to pass the Sceptre on to
Aldarion. |

TAR-ALDARION begins his rule, b.
700, surrenders Sceptre 1075, d. 1098. He continues to sail to Middle-Earth, becoming the
first King to leave Númenor. During his
absence, Hallatan acts as the appointed regent. |
902 |
Tar-Aldarion changes the Law of
Succession. The Kings Heir is the eldest child of the king, whether male or female.
If it is a female, she has the choice of refusing the Sceptre. Also if she remains unwed
within a certain amount of time, her eligibility to rule ceases. The nearest male kinsman,
whether of male or female descent, then becomes the Kings Heir. The heir must only
wed in the Line of Elros. Some say that this is because of Aldarions ruinous
marriage to Erendis. |

Death of Erendis. Desiring for
Aldarions company once more, she sets out from Emerië to the haven of Rómenna
awaiting his return from one of his voyages to Middle-Earth. It is there that she
apparently perishes in the water. |

Marriage of Hallacar and
Tar-Ancalimë. Ancalimë does not desire love but she weds Hallacar nonetheless. This is
most likely due to Hallacars persistence, the urging of the Council and her cousin
Soronto pressuring her to surrender the throne, for he would be the next in line as
Kings Heir. |

Birth of Tar-Anárion, son (only
child) of Tar-Ancalimë. After his birth, Ancalimës marriage to Hallacar becomes
full of strife. |

TAR-ANCALIMË ascends to the
throne becoming the first Ruling Queen, b. 873, surrenders Sceptre 1280, d. 1285. She
forbids any of her women of Emerië to get married. Hallacar arranges for their weddings
in secret. Ever since, Ancalimë pursues him with much hate and anger. |

TAR-MINASTIR
begins his rule, b. 1474, surrenders Sceptre 1869, d. 1873. He builds a great tower upon
the hill Oromet, near Andunië on the westshores of Númenor. He spends his days ever
gazing west towards Avallónë for he loves and envies the Eldar. |
1695-1701 |
Tar-Minastir
sends a navy, commanded by one Ciryatur, to Lindon (1700). It arrives just in time to
prevent Lindon from being overrun. Sauron is heavily defeated and driven back. He retreats
to Sarn Ford (the crossing on the Baranduin), which he appears to attempt to hold, but he
is forced back "after great slaughter." Sauron withdraws to the line of the
Gwathló, he is strengthened by forces from Tharbad, but finds a Númenórean army at his
rear (for Ciryatur had put a strong force ashore at Vinyalondë). In the Battle of the
Gwathló Sauron is routed utterly and he himself only narrowly escapes. He retreats with a
small force, but is assailed again in eastern Calenardhon. With no more than a bodyguard
he retreats to Mordor (1701). The army besieging Imladris is caught between Gil-galad and
Elrond and completely destroyed. |

Birth
of Tar-Atanamir, son of Tar-Ciryatan. c. 1800 Shadow falls on Númenor. The Númenóreans
begin to establish dominion on the coasts of Middle-earth. |

TAR-CIRYATAN
(Adúnaic: Ar-Balkumagan) begins his rule, b. 1634, surrenders Sceptre 2029, d. 2035. A
proud man and eager for wealth like his son, he takes rather than give. He sends ships to
Middle-Earth to bring back great stores of jewels and metals, oppressing men in
Middle-Earth. During his rule continuing on to his sons, the people of Númenor
begin to murmur against the Ban of the Valar. Manwë sends messengers to remind them of
the Doom of Men. |

THE GREAT begins his rule, b. 1800, does not surrender Sceptre, d. 2221. The first of the

time, Númenor is divided. |

Rebellion
and division of the Númenóreans begin. The majority, called the Kings Men, grows
proud and estranged from the Eldar and Valar. Many ceased to teach the Elven tongue to
their children. But there are some who, although remained loyal to the King and to the
line of Elros, wanted to keep things the way they are. Called the Elendili, meaning
Elf-friends, the Faithful wish to maintain friendship with the Eldar and to heed counsel
of the Lords of the West. |

rather have his younger son, Gimilkhâd, his heir but the laws do not allow it. |

Kings before him and wishes to rekindle friendship with the Eldar and the Lords of the
West. Spending much time in the ancient tower of Tar-Minastir, he looks ever westwards,
hoping to see a sail coming from Eresseä. He prophesizes that when the White Tree dies,
the line of the Kings of Númenor would as well. Gimilkhâd opposes Tar-Palantir as openly
as he dares. The Lord of Andúnië during the reign of Tar-Palantir was Númendil, the
seventeenth Lord. |

of Isildur, founding Co-Regent of Gondor, second King of Arnor, son (eldest child) of
Elendil. He later takes a fruit from Nimloth, the White Tree of Númenor. Soon enough,
Ar-Pharazôn orders the tree to be felled, heeding Saurons cousel. |

AR-PHARAZÔN
THE GOLDEN (Tar-Calion) begins his rule as the mightiest and last king of Númenor, b.
3118, d. 3319. Upon the death of Tar-Palantir, his daughter, Míriel is taken to wife by
Pharazôn, the son of Gimilkhâd, against her will, and against the law of Númenor.
Pharazôn then seizes the Sceptre, taking the name Ar-Pharazôn, and giving Míriel the
name Ar-Zimraphel. Ar-Pharazôn learns of Sauron from his captains that sail to
Middle-Earth. He is angered upon hearing that Sauron has taken the title King of Men.
Desire of power overcomes him and he determines to claim the title himself, making Sauron
his servant.
The Lord of Andúnie during the reign of Ar-Pharazôn is Amandil (Adûnaic: Aphanuzir),
the eighteenth (and last) Lord. He is the leader of the Faithful in Númenor but not
openly. The King commands him to leave Andúnië and dwell in Rómenna. |

Ar-Pharazôn lands in Umbar with
a great fleet. |
3262 |
Ar-Pharazôn summons Sauron and
he comes. Sauron humbles himself and to others, he seems fair and wise. But Ar-Pharazôn
is not convinced and takes Sauron as a prisoner to Númenor. Within a few years, the
Númenóreans hearken Saurons counsels and lies, darkening their hearts save
Amandil. They begin to worship Melkor, whom Sauron says is the true giver of freedom. The
Númenóreans desire immortality and Sauron tells them that the Lords of the West are
withholding it from them. |

Ar-Pharazôn begins building his
fleet to assail Valinor. |

Birth of Meneldil, second King of
Gondor, son (fourth and youngest child) of Anárion. |

Amandil sails west with three
servants in an attempt to reach Valinor to save Númenor. He advises his son Elendil to
ready some ships of his own and wait in the haven of Rómenna. Amandils fate is
unknown.
Downfall of Númenor: Ar-Pharazôn assails Valinor. Thousands of warships darken the sea
as the fleet sets sail into the West. The Valar are silent and filled with sorrow. Manwë
speaks to Ilúvatar and takes counsel from Him.
The Changing of the World. The Valar lay down their guardianship of the World and call on
Ilúvatar: He changes the shape of the World, removing Valinor off the Circle of the
World, and drowning Númenor beneath the Sea. A rift appears in the middle of Belegaer
between Númenor and the Undying Lands, where the great sea plunges, swallowing all the
Númenórean ships into the abyss. The King and those mortals that set foot in Aman are
buried under falling hills.
Elendil and his sons Isildur and Anárion, along with a remnant of the Faithful, escape to
Middle-Earth on nine ships that are blown away to the east by a great wind from the west.
They bring with them the fruit taken from Nimloth and the seven palantiri. There they
found the Kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor in Middle-earth. |
