haven of Pelargir, Eärnil lays a siege on Umbar by both land and sea. Umbar becomes a

many of his men and ships because of a storm off the coast of Umbar. He is succeeded by
Ciryandil, his son, who becomes the fourteenth king of Gondor |

Amlaith of Fornost, ruler of

Ciryandil dies in a battle with the

defeats the men of Harad. He takes up the name Hyarmendacil meaning

discover than an evil power has made its stronghold at Dol-Guldur. This is actually the
first move of Sauron after his defeat, but it is mistaken to be the sign of the return of
the Nazgûl. Celepharn, son of Mallor becomes the ruler of Arthedain. |

Gondor reaches the height of its
power. It extends from Celebrant and the southern borders of Mirkwood in the north to the
river Harnen in the south and from Greyflood in the west to the inland sea of Rhûn in the
east. The reign of The Ship Kings of Gondor ends with the death of

Atantar Alcarin, son of Hyarmendacil
inherits the throne of Gondor. He was called The Glorious. But by not being
vigilant, the power of Gondor begins to wane during his reign. |

The Fallohides, one of the three

Celepharn, son of Mallor becomes the

The reign of Atantar II comes to an

Minalcar leads a great force to war
and defeats a large army of the Easterlings between Rhovanion and the sea of Rhûn.
Minalcar takes up the name Rómendacil. On his return he builds the pillars of
the Argonath at the entrance to Nin Hithoel. He strengthens his friendship with the
Northmen. |

Rómendacil sends his son Valacar to
dwell with Vidugavia, who calls himself the king of Rhovanion. Valacar however falls in
love with Vidumavi, daughter of Vidugavia and marries her. Out of this marriage later
comes the Kin-Strife of Gondor |

Celebrindor, son of Celepharn becomes
king of Arthedain |

Narmacil, king of Gondor dies and is
succeeded by his brother Calmacil. However Rómendacil retains his position as the regent

The year of reappearance of the
Ring-Wraiths. The realm of Angmar is founded in the north by the Witch-King
who is none other than the chief of the Ring-Wraiths. The hobbits migrate westwards and
many of them settle at Bree. Orcs begin to increase in the Misty mountains and attack the

Death of Calmacil, king of Gondor.

Argeleb I, son of Malvegil become the next king. During this time the king of Arthedain

king of Arthedain after his father is slain in the battle with Rhuadaur and Angmar |

Valacar becomes the king of Gondor. The first disaster of Gondor begins at the end of his

A great host coming out of Angmar
enters Cardolan and surrounds weathertop, Arveleg is slain in the battle. The tower of
Amon Sûl is destroyed but the palantír is saved and taken back to Fornost. The last
prince of Cardolan is slain. Araphor, son of Arveleg with the aid of Cirdan drives away
the enemies from Fornost and the North Downs. The stoors living at Dunland migrate |

Death of Valacar. He is succeeded by
his son Eldacar who is also called Vinitharya. Civil war begins in Gondor as many of the
high people object to Eldacars succession because of his mother who was not of the
high Númenorean blood. |

Eldacar after resisting his opponents
for many years is finally besieged at Osgiliath. It is during this time that the dome of
Osgiliath is destroyed and the palantír is lost. Eldacar however escapes and comes to his
kinsfolk in Rhovanion. Castamir later called The Usurper, the grandson of
Calimehtar, younger brother of Rómendacil II ascends to the throne. He proves to be a
very cruel king and he puts to death Ornendil, son of Eldacar |
1437-1447 |
Castsmirs popularity among the
people of Gondor begins to wane as he proves to be a very selfish king. Eldacar meanwhile
waits for an opportunity to regain his position.. |
1447 |
Eldacar brings a great army out of
the north and a great battle takes place in Lebennin at the crossings of Erui. Eldacar
kills Castamir, but the sons of Castamir escape to Umbar. |
1448 |
The sons of Castamir make a refuge
for all the enemies of the king at Umbar and form the beginnings of the Corsairs |
1490 |
Eldacar dies at the age of two
hundred and thirty five after having been king for fifty-eight years. Ten of these years
were spent in exile. Aldamir, the second son of Eldacar becomes the next king |

King Aldamir of Gondor is slain in
the war with the Harad and the Corsairs of Umbar. His son Vinyarion later called

Vinyarion defeats the men of Harad

Argeleb II grants them the land beyond Baranduin. The hobbits are led by the fallohide
brothers Marco and Blanco. Thus the foundation for the Shire is laid and this year becomes

Hyarmendacil II dies and is succeeded
by his son Minardil as the king of Gondor. It was from King Minardils steward Húrin
of Emyn Arnen, that the line of the Stewards of Gondor later descended |

The corsairs led by Angamaitë and
Sangahyando, the great grandsons of Castamir ravage Pelargir and slay King Minardil.
Telemnar, son of Minardil becomes the twenty-sixth king of Gondor |

The reign of Telemnar proves short
lived as a plague coming from the east kills Telemnar and all his children. The white tree
also withers and dies. The plague spreads rapidly and many parts of Eriador become
desolate. Tarondor, nephew of king Telemnar becomes the next king of Gondor. |

King Tarondor removes the kings
dwellings from Osgiliath to Minas Anor. He also plants a seedling of the White Tree. The
city of Osgiliath begins to fall into ruins. Mordor is left unguarded. Tarondor rules
Gondor for the longest period of 162 years. During his reign he concentrates on the
restoration of order within his realm. |

The wainriders make an alliance with
the men of Khand and Near Harad. Ondoher is slain in the terrible battle that followed.
Artamir and Faramir, the sons of Ondoher are also slain. However, Eärnil, Captain of the
Southern Army is victorious in South Ithilien. He wins the Battle of the Camp and drives
the wainriders into the Dead Marshes. Arvedui claims the throne of Gondor |

The claim of Arvedui is rejected and
Pelendur, the steward of King Ondoher plays a major role in this. The crown of Gondor is
granted to Eärnil, the victorious captain who incidentally is of the royal house being
the great grandson of the brother of Narmacil II. However Eärnil offers his friendship
and aid to Arthedain |

Death of Araphant. Arvedui, his name
signifying The Last King (given to him by Malbeth the Seer), becomes King of

Messages of distress reach Gondor
from Arthedain that the Witch-king was preparing for a last battle with the Northern
kingdom. Eärnil sends his son Eärnur with a fleet to the north in aid of Arthedain |
1974 |
The Witch-king of Angmar attacks
Arthedain in winter capturing Fornost. Arvedui escapes and hides himself, but driven by
hunger he seeks the aid of the snowmen of Forochel. |
1975 |
Arvedui dies after the ship that
Cirdan sends for him drowns in the Bay of Forochel. The northern kingdom comes to an end
with the death of Arvedui. The palantíri of Annúminas and Amon Sûl are also lost. The
fleet of Eärnur reaches the havens of Lindon. The Witch-King is defeated in the Battle of
Fornost. He vanishes from the north. Glorfindel, the elf lord prophesies that the
Witch-King would not perish at the hands of a man. |

Aranarth, the eldest son of Arvedui,
the last king of Arthedain becomes the chieftain of the Dúnedain of the north. It was
during this time that the tradition of fostering the sons of the chieftains at Imaldris
begins. The heirlooms of their house namely the Ring of Barahir, The shards of Narsil, the
Star of Elendil and the Scepter of Annúminas are also kept at Rivendell |

Frugmar, chieftain of the Éothéod
leads them into the north. |

Bucca of the Marish from whom the Old
Bucks later descended becomes the first Thain of the Shire after the Shire folk decide to

The dwarves delving deeply in Moria
for mithril rouse a Balrog of Morgoth that had lain hidden there. Durin VI is slain by the
balrog. The Witch-king comes to Mordor and gathers the Ringwraiths |

Náin, son of Durin VI is also slain
by the balrog. The glory of Moria fades and the dwarves flee from Moria. The sylvan elves
of Lórien also flee to the south. Amroth and Nimrodel are lost. |

renewed and Eärnur rides to Minas Morgul and is lost. Mardil begins ruling Gondor in the

The Watchful peace begins. Sauron

search for the Ring himself near the Gladden fields. |

meets Gollum and finds the One Ring. Saruman with an intention of preventing Sauron from
searching the river agrees to an attack on Dol Guldur when the council meets. However
Sauron abandons Dol Guldur. The Battle of the Five Armies takes place in which Thorin is
slain. Bard of Esgaroth slays Smaug the Golden and Dáin II becomes King under the

Saruman says that he has discovered that the One Ring has passed down the Anduin to the
sea. He withdraws to Isengard and begins fortifying it. Saruman also sets spies to watch
